The Beaverbrook Art Gallery will be treated as a place of civic pride, a site specific design culturally investing in the City’s center. The new Gallery will embrace The Green, the St. John River, and downtown Fredericton; establishing a relationship between itself and these public spaces with their inhabitants. The proposed addition engages the public by both creating integrated outdoor spaces, and opening the Gallery’s interior with large planes of glass. The minimal stone clad addition reinforces the Gallery’s integration within its urban context. The Legislative Assembly Building adds to the civic nature of this part of town, a simple low form, and a mature timeless architecture.
The addition will provide many new galleries. These modern and versatile galleries will be tailored to display and share the extensive Beaverbrook collection while providing accessibility to all visitors.
