Micheal Holliday
Associate, USA Projects

Micheal was raised on the Isle of Tiree, a remote island off the west coast of Scotland.  He graduated from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland) in 2010 with a Masters with Distinction in Advanced Architectural Design.  Micheal attended the ‘Ghost 13’ conference in Shobac (2011) and left inspired to open an architecture firm on Tiree, which specialized in contemporary interpretations of the island’s iconic vernacular buildings.  He was also part of a team who hosted an annual live-build program for architecture students.  This program delivered a number of thoughtful, useful community buildings and was exhibited at the Venice Bienalle (2017).

In 2018, Micheal relocated to the US where he worked on a range of projects, from historic renovations to new laboratories, in Washington DC.  While working in DC he was selected for the prestigious Christopher Kelley Leadership Program (2021).  Micheal fulfilled a career-long ambition to join MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple in 2021 and became an Associate in 2024.

Micheal lives in central Colorado and is proud to have self-built his own home in both Scotland and the US.  This process informed his deep appreciation of how to execute a project to the highest possible standards.
