Roy is a modest dwelling one room deep, situated parallel to the agrarian Northumberland Strait coast facing north to Prince Edward Island. Similar to nearby Leahey House II, it borrows the form of the local narrow-gabled roof barns clad with corrugated metal.

The “side-core” cabinet wall is placed on the south, contains the hearth, pantry, mechanical room, storage, and entry porch, creating a clearstory window above.

The 10 ft (3 m) structural grid of double steel angle tension ties organizes a spatial sequence containing a screened porch, living/dining/kitchen area, bathroom, study, and a bedroom with floor-to-ceiling glazing providing a continuous view of the sea.
