The School of Nursing is a three story brick building. The building is “L” shaped in plan to create a new quadrangle together with existing buildings. It houses 3 large classrooms, 5 state of the art nursing labs, and faculty offices. The floors are connected with a central social atrium surrounded by student spaces for study. The main floor lobby/atrium serves and an internal entrance to the new quad. Classrooms are highly transparent to make a visual connection to the quad. Evening use of the lower level creates a safe campus environment. At each end of the ‘L’ plan there are social spaces such as study, conference and student lounge these spaces which are articulated with large window.
With its narrow floor plate all spaces enjoy natural light and views to the new quad. All rooms have operable windows. The windows in the brick facade are loosely ordered to create a sense of autonomy within each office and public space.
